1 Bell pepper cut into long strips ½ inch wide
1 medium size Sweet onion cut into long strips ½ inch wide
15oz crushed canned Tomatoes
2 tsp dry Thyme
1.5 cup Chicken Broth
1.5 cup Heavy cream
2 tsp Worchester sauce
2 tbsp Dat’l Hook Ya sauce
Dat’l Hook Ya Blackened saeasoning
Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper
Jasmine rice 5 servings
Cook jasmine rice per instructions and set aside
In a large pan, bring to high heat. While the pan is getting hot, season the shrimp liberally with Dat’l Hook Ya blackened seasoning. Add 2-3 tbsp of olive oil to the pan and then add the shrimp. Blacken each side 2 min. Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.
In the same pan, add 1-2 tbsp of olive oil and brown the Italian sausage. Takes about 5 min. Remove the sausage from the pan and set aside.
Lower the pan to medium high heat and add the bell peppers, onion, thyme and 1 tbsp of Dat’l Hook Ya blackened seasoning. Cook until the onions are soft, about 2-3 min
Add the garlic and cook 1 min
Next add the crushed canned tomatoes, chicken broth, Dat’l Hook Ya sauce, and Worchester sauce. Increase the heat and bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 min until the sauce is about ¼ reduced.
Add in the heavy cream, bring back to a simmer and cook about 5 min or until the sauce thickens some. It won’t be a very thick sauce, but you want some body. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Lastly add in the blackened shrimp and browned sausage. Cook 1-2 min to warm the meat back up.
Put some rice on a plate, take some of the sauce, onions, peppers, shrimp and sausage and place on top of the rice. The sauce will flow through the rice and give some wonderful flavors with each bite!
