Accessibility Statement

Hook Ya Products is committed to making hookyaproducts.com usable by everyone, including people who browse with screen readers, keyboards, screen magnification, or other assistive technology.

Our standard

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We currently consider this site partially conformant: most of the standard is met, and some parts are still in progress.

What we have done

In August 2026 we completed a review of the site and made substantial changes, including:

- Removing dozens of duplicated links that forced keyboard users to tab through the same control repeatedly before reaching the navigation
- Adding pause controls to all scrolling banners, and honoring the operating system's reduce-motion setting
- Adding proper dialog roles, focus management, and focus return to the cart and navigation drawers
- Correcting heading structure across the site so screen reader users can navigate by heading
- Fixing a skip-to-content link that could receive keyboard focus without becoming visible
- Adding labels to form fields that previously relied on placeholder text alone
- Repairing links that had no destination
- Correcting text and background color combinations that did not meet minimum contrast
- Adding descriptive alternative text to images that convey information, and marking decorative images so they are skipped

Known limitations

We want to be straightforward about what is not yet fixed:

- Some third-party features embedded in our store are not fully under our control. These include our bundle and quantity-discount display, our product review widget, and our blog search. We have identified specific issues in each and are addressing them where we can.
- Some images may still lack descriptive alternative text. We are working through these.
- We are continuing manual testing with keyboards and screen readers, which finds issues that automated tools do not.

Accessibility is not a one-time project. Site updates can introduce new barriers, so we re-test after significant changes.
