Low-carb datil pepper gumbo from Dat'l Hook Ya

Low Carb Seafood Chowder Packed With Nutrients

Oh boy oh boy, do we have a dish for you! Packed with immense flavors that satisfies the hunger while packing you full of vitamins. We replace the traditional potato with rutabaga. They provide an excellent source of potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamin E & C, and antioxidants. Tomatoes in Dat’l Hook Ya sauce and canned provided lycopene. The carrots are another excellent source of antioxidants and vitamin A. The datil pepper adds capsaicin which is an anti-inflammatory. Let’s get cooking!

1 bottle of Dat’l Hook Ya
1 Onion chopped
1 Bell Pepper chopped
1 Cup chopped carrots
1 Cup chopped celery
1.5 Cups Rutabaga cut into 1/2 inch squares
4oz Diced Pancetta
32oz Chicken broth
56oz Canned diced tomatoes
1 pound seafood of your choice

Ideal is to cook in an Instant pot for the most flavors, but cooking in a regular pot will also work. Set instant pot to sauté and add pancetta until fat is rendered, about 5 min. Add onion, bell pepper, carrots and celery. Cook 4 min. Add remainder of ingredients except for seafood. Cook for 1 hour under high pressure in Instant Pot or 2 hours in a regular pot on low simmer. Add seafood and cook until its ready, which is usually 5 min.

Is your mouth watering yet? We promise you will not miss those potatoes! The heat level is upper end of mild almost medium. This recipe makes enough to feed 5-6 adults.
