Dat’l Hook Ya Famous Soft Taco

This is one of the BEST soft tacos you’ll ever make. The flavors are simple yet together they make a truly remarkable dish. The crema sauce brings it all together and adds flavor to another level. Any fish will work but we prefer to use a snapper. Simple to make, phenomenal to eat! Prep time 25 min feeds 4

1/2 cup Crema

2 tbsp Mayonnaise

Dat’l Hook Ya Blackened seasoning

1 tbsp Dat’l Hook Ya sauce

1.5 tsp Lime juice

1/2 half head shredded Ice Berg lettuce

3 Roma tomatoes diced

1.5 pound fish of choice

8-10 soft Flour tortilla

4 tbsp Green onion diced

1/4 cup Ghee (clarified butter)

15 oz can refried beans

1/2 Cup Queso Fresco

Its important to make the crema sauce first so it sits 20 min at minimum for the most flavor. In a small bowl combine the crema, mayo, Dat’l Hook Ya sauce, lime juice, and 3/4 tsp Dat’l Hook Ya blackened seasoning. Mix and place into the fridge.  Cut the fish into 3/4 inch wide strips the length of the filet. You want nice long thin strips of fish for max flavor and perfect cooking. Do not cook the whole filet and then break up the fish. Take the extra effort to make the strips here as it makes a big difference. Season the fish strips with Dat’l Hook Ya blackened seasoning. Let the seasoning sit 5 min. While the fish is sitting, open the can of refried beans and place into a small pot on medium-low heat. Add in 2 tbsp of the crema sauce made earlier. Mix and bring up to heat until nicely smooth and warm. Time to cook the fish. Bring a large pan to high heat then add the ghee. Add in the fish and blacken until done. Don’t over cook as you want a nice moist fish. In another large pan, bring it to medium heat and spray with cooking spray. Place in the soft flour tortillas and cook each side until has a slight brown color. Time to build. Spread a layer of refried beans onto the tortilla, next add the fish, then lettuce, tomato, queso fresco, and finish with a drizzle of the cream sauce. Garnish with green onion. Get ready to bite into the flavor explosion Dat’l Hook Ya famous taco!
